2022 Virtual Haute Route Challenge
With three big climbs up Ventoux, this will be a challenging endurance event, so just like any big cycling event, preparation is key to getting the best experience out of your ride.
You will be stressing not just yourself, but your equipment. This can put a lot of strain on device processors, smart trainers, and other sensors. It is important to test your equipment beforehand so that you know you can depend on it.
System Requirements
Mac: FulGaz for Mac was designed around the Big Sur OS. Some earlier model Macs may still be able to run FulGaz as long as their OS is updated to at least Big Sur. If your Mac is more than 5 years old it's more than likely going to find FulGaz tough to run smoothly, or at all.
iPad, iPhone & Apple TV: Apple devices that are more than 5 years old may struggle. For the best performance please ensure your device is updated to at least iOS 14 and that there is at least 5GB of free space on your device. Any 4th generation or above HD or 4K model Apple TV will run FulGaz.
Windows 10 PC and laptop: A minimum of 8GB of RAM is recommended. For the best performance ensure that all your drivers are up to date. You can use the Intel Driver Assistant to check for any pending updates. FulGaz is also compatible with the new Windows 11.
Android: With so many makes and models of Android device on the market, it's very hard for us to give a minimum specification. The newer and higher-spec the better. A tablet with 4GB of RAM and running Android 11 is a good start. FulGaz is a high powered app, so don't expect it to run brilliantly on a $199 department store Android tablet...
A quick pre-event checklist
- Ensure you are connected to the internet! FulGaz events require a good internet connection.
- Download the ride video in advance before starting a ride.
- Test your setup - make sure your trainer and connections are all working.
- When starting, be sure to select the ride from within the Haute Route ride channel.
Finding your Haute Route rides in FulGaz
The Haute Route ride channel will be visible along the top main menu in FulGaz. If this is not showing up in your app, please check you are connected to the internet, then also head to FulGaz settings, and tap on the Update Ride List option. Please only choose the course from within the Haute Route ride channel.
NOTE: If you select the wrong course or incorrect ride, your ride will not be counted towards this event or appear on the leaderboard.
Event Start and Finish Times
Download the ride video
For this event, it is highly recommended that you download the ride video beforehand. Downloading the video reduces the strain on your device and cuts down on data transfer across your network. You can mange storage and your download quality preference in Video Settings.
NOTE: If you have a slightly older-model iPad or lower-spec computer, consider downloading the ride video using the lowest 720p resolution (FulGaz settings -> video settings).
Leaderboards
Each stage of this challenge has it's own leaderboard. A link to this is included in the email that is sent to you after each ride. There is also an overall GC leaderboard that is updated with your total time once you have ridden the stages in order.
< LEADERBOARD LINK TBA >
If after your ride you find that your time has not updated correctly or is missing from the leaderboard, first head to Settings -> Ride History in FulGaz, select the ride, then re-upload the data. This should push your time across again.
Trainers and sensor connections
If your trainer or sensors are not being picked up by the FulGaz device pairing screen, firstly just make sure they are not still connected to any other apps or devices (eg: Zwift, Wahoo Fitness, FulGaz on another device, Garmin cycling computer, phone, etc).
For Android devices, please ensure that both Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled.
