5th October 2023: An update release (FulGaz 5.0.17.0 for Windows) includes some major enhancements to video streaming and reactive mode playback. This update should resolve any glitches, especially ones that riders using "non-standard" setups (eg: multiple monitors at different resolutions, custom scaling, etc) were experiencing, while also improve the reliability of playback on lower-end laptops.
If you are experiencing playback issues on your Windows device, there are a couple of steps you can work through to get your video quality up to where you would like it.
Internet speeds. When streaming the ride videos, the quality is determined by your bandwidth. FulGaz can vary the video quality based on internet speed. This reduces the chance of any video buffering. Try closing any other apps or programs that may be running in the background, these can often still be using bandwidth. Internet speeds can also vary depending on the time of day and how many other household members are using the internet.
Windows video display settings. We recommend that you keep all of your Windows display settings at the recommended defaults. Changing any of your default video resolution and magnification settings can cause the ride video playback quality to be degraded. This is especially important if you have a custom setup that is powering multiple monitors.
Download the ride video. For the absolute best video playback, we recommend downloading the 4K video file before riding. You can set your download preference in FulGaz settings -> video settings. You can also download FulGaz ride videos via your Member's Page in your chosen quality.
See this article for instructions on setting up the additional video folder.
If you continue to experience playback issues, head into FulGaz settings -> video settings, and...
- Tick the "Disable HLS Streaming" option
- Un-tick the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" option
- Reduce your video preference to 1080p
This will reduce the amount of processing power that FulGaz requires to render the video, and in many cases will lead to a more reliable video output. A few other tips that may help:
- Ensure there is at least 5GB of free space on your hard drive
- Install any pending software or driver updates via Windows Updater
- In some cases, updating your OS to Windows 11 may help
