One of the great things about FulGaz is how customisable the ride experience is. There are a number of settings, unique to FulGaz, that you can use to fine tune your virtual ride to be as close as possible in speed and feel to your outdoor riding.
This is especially useful if you are using FulGaz to prepare for a race, train for an epic European climb, or simply want to know how your performance indoors would compare to the same ride outside
Once you have your Rider Weight and Bike Weight set accurately, the next setting that you may wish to adjust is your Aerodynamic Drag.
You can find this in FulGaz settings -> performance settings -> advanced.
The measurement for Aerodynamic Drag is CdA, or Coefficient of Drag.
While the default setting will be absolutely fine for 99% of riders, if you find that your outdoor times are not matching your indoor times (for a similar power) you can adjust this number. The lower your drag number, the less energy you lose to "air resistance" while riding, the faster you go!
The default setting in FulGaz is 0.35 which is roughly that of a "modern roadie" on a modern bike, riding with a well-tuned position on the bike.
A mountain biker or more "recreational" cyclist may be up around 0.45, while an elite time trial rider may have a CdA of 0.25 or even lower!
Slightly lowering your CdA in FulGaz will give you a faster overall time for the same power, as you are reducing the wattage required to maintain a given speed. Conversely, if you are a mountain biker or training for gravel trails, you may need to increase your CdA in order to reduce your FulGaz speed and match the experience of your outdoor riding.
