There are three main "ride modes" you can select when riding FulGaz. These are Steady, Reactive and Challenge. Your ride mode can be changed from the settings menu.
REACTIVE MODE
This is the ride mode that most people will choose. Your smart trainer will react to on-screen gradient changes, but in Reactive mode the video will speed up and slow down depending on the amount of power you are producing. This mode is just like real life!
The videos will always start automatically as a prompt to pedal, but will then roll to a stop if you do not start pedalling within around 10 seconds.
The "speed multiplier" on the bike computer will then change depending on how much faster or slower you are going compared to the original rider. While this isn't an important factor, it can be interesting to keep an eye on.
Group rides
All user-created private group rides, organised races, and events on FulGaz with timed leaderboards are locked into Reactive mode to keep the competition fair.
Workouts
FulGaz workouts are locked into Steady mode to keep the interval timing correct.
STEADY MODE
Steady mode locks the ride at the same speed the ride was filmed at. If the person filming the ride took five minutes to climb the hill, so will you. Your smart trainer will still react to gradient changes!
In this mode it does not matter how hard or easy you pedal, the video speed will remain constant at the original speed. This is great if you want to complete a session or effort lasting a set amount of time. Simply choose a video where the original rider took the amount of time you wish to be riding for.
The "speed multiplier" on the bike computer will stay at 1.00x when in Steady mode.
CHALLENGE MODE
Challenge mode is the same as reactive mode, but you can choose a “previous rider's effort to race against. This can be your previous effort or another FulGaz rider's time on the course. It’s a great way to push yourself harder! The rider's time will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen and also as a marker on the elevation profile, showing how far ahead or behind you are.
